Our board guides the ministry our staff runs by...

100% of the board members at Shepherds Fold financially contribute to the ongoing efforts of the mission, are involved in local churches, and actively collaborate through one of three "hands on" teams: operations (the day-to-day details), marketing (getting the word out), and discipleship (the program, life transformation)

Tom Mullins, Board Chair
Active member of Asbury United Methodist. Works in corporate sales for an international company
Chaplain George Adams
Pastor to the prisons, from Bethel Baptist Church in Pratt City. Retired from insurance after owning an All State agency for 36+ years. Also, retired chaplain for the Alabama Department of Corrections, but still going strong in the ministry.
Mark Brinton
43 years in the banking industry, before retiring from Synovus in 2020. Serves on the Grant-Writing Team at Shepherds Fold, and-- as an active member of Hunter Street Baptist-- leads a small group and visits the Alabama prisons as a member of the prison ministry team.
Richard Dewberry
Real estate developer with apartment complexes and other projects... teaches the finance class at Shepherds Fold (one of our core program components). Active at Briarwood Presbyterian Church.
Mike Fliegal
Retired from the City of Birmingham Law Department, now volunteering at several homeless / prison re-entry facilities. Also a board member of the Alabama Wildlife Center, and serves as the Vestavia rep for the Birmingham-JeffCo Transit Authority.
Steve Driggers
Retired Marine Corp helicopter pilot, now flies at Executive Jet Management as a corporate pilot, serves on the Discipleship Team at Shepherds Fold, and active at Altadena Valley Presbyterian Church. Makes regular visits to Shepherds Fold on Sunday evenings to assist with our weekly worship services.
Tom Gunter
An active member at Briarwood Presbyterian, serves as the Treasurer for Shepherds Fold-- handles the Form 990s, etc., after retiring and handing his accounting business over to his son.
Rick Hudson
Retired from ACIPCO, now serves on the Grant-Writing Team at Shepherds Fold. Has been past president of our board. Also directs the prison ministry for Hunter Street Baptist Church, making regular visits "behind the fence."
Angel McPhearson
Active member of Asbury United Methodist, strategic connection for Serve Days at Shepherds Fold.
Jim Schilleci
Owns / runs a construction company, as the General Contractor. Helps spearhead the Sunday evening services at Shepherds Fold. Active member of Briarwood Presbyterian.
John Woods
Retired VP of Engineering at American Cast Iron Pipe Company, member of Mountain Brook Community Church, involved with prison visits & the Shepherds Fold Discipleship Team. Married with 2 kids and 4 grands.
Advisory Team
Our Advisory Team serves us by...
... providing insight and wisdom to the staff and board of directors. Though they don't have fiduciary responsibility and the same accountability as the board of directors, they provide a vital role in the mission.
Most board members begin by serving in an advisory capacity to get acquainted with the ministry firsthand, as well as see if they might like engaging at a higher level.
